Conclusions: 26.02.79 DME KX states: Unable to fault at Doncaster or when subsequently checked at Finsbury Park Depot and in traffic - in view of the fact that no further trouble was experienced with this locomotive I am left wondering whether a PEF on the coaching stock, caused by weather conditions, resulted in tripping of the locomotive's PEF relay and loss of power. This might suggest the locomotive was removed at Doncaster, however, no forwarding loco is recorded though Chronicles does have 55012 present on Doncaster TMD the following day.

Casualty report states: Flashover - worked forward with No.2 engine pinned out (possible GC52 air valve broken). Conclusions: 19.07.79 DME KX states: The defective air valve was of the later 'plastic' type and was handed to the CM&EE's representative, Mr. Holden, during his visit to Finsbury Park on 27.06.79. However, subsequent to this casualty this locomotive had suffered at least two further flashovers and following investigation in traffic by the CM&EE's representative Mr. Edwards is now in Doncaster Works with a suspect No.4 traction motor. Casualty report states: Flashover No.1 main generator. Conclusion: 02.10.79 DME KX states: This locomotive had a history of flashover troubles being returned to works several times for investigation before the cause was eventually traced in traffic as due to a traction motor contactor intermittently cutting out. The cause of this mal operation is in dispute, the CM&EE's representative, Mr. Edwards, stating it was in electrical feed to the contactor EP valve coil & BREL blaming blockage of the air supply line. 0D01 Peterborough - Doncaster. To Doncaster Works - Unclassified repair. Both main generators and all traction motors severe flashover damage - all traction motors were removed and replaced by a reconditioned set. All circuits were meggered, meter boards fitted for trial and No.1 main generator was replaced.
