The early hours of 2nd June 1980 sees 55003 (D9003) "MELD" waiting to re-enter service following fire damage repairs at York TMD.
The loco had been removed from the 1A40 21:28 Newcastle - King's Cross service at York on Sunday 25th May after its exhaust lagging had caught fire.
