55002 (D9002) "THE KING'S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY" passes Carmont with the 1G64 12:40 Aberdeen - Edinburgh on 29th May 1981. The story goes that the loco was supposed to have stayed the weekend in Aberdeen as part of the Ferryhill open day to mark the inauguration of the "The Flying Scotsman" service from Aberdeen. However someone put it on the 1G64 Edinburgh working and it wasn't until it had made it even further south to Newcastle that it was hijacked off its train and sent 'PDQ' back to Aberdeen. Unfortunately at present this cannot be confirmed as the only move I have is a light engine move back from Haymarket to Ferryhill - but it's a nice story...

...Another of 55002 as it heads south from Carmont. The siding at Carmont is now gone but the box remains open.
