D9000 "ROYAL SCOTS GREY" passes Hammerton with the "Deltic Reunion" railtour on 2nd January 1997. D9000's return to mainline duties began on 30th November 1996 with the "Deltic Deliverance" tour from Edinburgh to King's Cross - sadly D9000 expired at Berwick with an exhaust fire and Deltic fans had to wait until the 2nd January for the "Reunion" tour to finally realize a dream of tasting quality haulage behind these magnificent machines once more. "Deltic Reunion" ran from King's Cross to York, via Hull, and saw D9000 and the prototype "DELTIC" together inside the NRM.
