History was made on the 30th November 1996 when the hard work and determination of Deltic 9000 Locomotives Ltd. came to fruition with D9000's return to the mainline. D9000 "ROYAL SCOTS GREY" is seen at Edinburgh prior to departure with Hertfordshire railtours "The Deltic Deliverance". The tour had originated from King's Cross with a class 86 locomotive and it was intended for D9000 to return the tour to London. A power unit fire at Berwick, however, brought proceedings to a halt and 37702 was summoned to rescue the stricken tour. Happily Deltic fans did not have to wait long for D9000's next tour, "The Deltic Reunion", which ran without mishap on the 2nd January 1997.
