Deltic locomotives on freight movements were actually included in some early diagrams, though these were overnight moves and very seldom seen or photographed, hence  a daylight move with a member of the class in charge was rare indeed.
here D9012 "CREPELLO" has charge of a special freight move (not included in the day to day WTT), designated by the 'Z' in the 4Z03 reporting number. The loco is seen with a rake of empty carflats at Ranskill, north of Retford, on the 23rd October 1971. D9012 had been in charge of  the1A11 08:10 Newcastle - King's Cross on the morning of the 23rd and had been removed at Doncaster in favour of  9002 "THE KING'S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY", it is unknown where D9012 had been attached to 4Z03 or to where it was headed, however, having been removed from 1A11 it is assumed it is heading south to its home depot, Finsbury Park, for attention.
