With its marker panel glass broken and 4-character headcodes buffeted by the wind 55016 (D9016) "GORDON HIGHLANDER" is seen at speed on the racetrack section north of York. The photo was taken between March 1974 (when renumbered 55016) and July 1975 when the locomotive entered Doncaster Works for Heavy General Repair, after which the headcodes were plated over. There is no evidence that 55016 ever received the domino style headcode blinds.
